NZFSS CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT SYSTEM
AMENDED APRIL 2011
1) Aim
a) The aim of the NZFSS
Championship System is to recognise team results, ie musher & dogs.
b) The New Zealand Sled Dog
Championships (Rig) and New Zealand Dog Sled Championships (Sled) will be
recognised as separate events/disciplines.
c) The New Zealand Sled Dog
Championships will be separately sanctioned events.
2)
Selection
Clubs bid to host the Championships in
conjunction with a specific NZFSS sanctioned event. All bids must be submitted by 31 December of
the year prior to the race date (ie, 31 December 2009 for race date of winter
2010) and bids
must include:
i)
the event’s name and date
ii) proposed entry fees
iii) proposed Race Marshal
iv) proposed Time Keepers
i)
a schedule of the races/heats including:
(1) race/heat distance
(2) a description of trail surface(s).
b)
The NZFSS Executive
Officers select a winning bid.
i)
Their selection must take into account:
(1) Rotating the Champs through
all interested clubs
(2) Rotating between the North
& South Island.
(3) The Race Giving
Organisation’s ability to run a ‘professional’ event.
3) NZFSS
Executive Involvement
The event may retain its original name as part or all of the event's
title. The NZFSS Executive have final approval of the event's name.
a)
The NZFSS Executive will
select one person to be their representative on the events organising
committee.
b)
The Race Marshal,
and Time Keepers must be selected in consultation with the NZFSS Executive.
c)
The Entry Fees must be set
in consultation with the NZFSS Executive.
d)
No sanctioning fee shall be
payable for the event.
e)
All classes must be offered
for each race type at the event.
f)
The NZFSS will contribute
towards the cost of sashes for the Championship event at an amount to be determined at the time of the event.
4) Withdrawal
Of Championship Status
a)
The NZFSS Executive may
withdraw Championship status and associated sanctioning from the event if, at any time, the
event could be seen to be detrimental to sled dog sports or the NZFSS
Championship system.
5) Sponsorship
Championship sponsors' must be approved by majority vote of the NZFSS
Officers, with the aim of avoiding conflicts with existing sponsors and of
offering ‘Championship Sponsors’ a multiple year contract.
a)
Monies from ‘Championship
Sponsors’ are to be held by the NZFSS Treasurer and maybe used to pay any
reasonable expenses associated with the Champs.
Payment of expenses will be paid based on a budget pre approved by the
NZFSS Executive. Where expenses vary
from this, majority vote of the Executive Officers will judge whether they are
reasonable.
b)
Sponsorship monies may only
be added to the event’s purse with the approval of a majority vote of the NZFSS
Executive.
c)
The disposal of any
sponsorship monies remaining after the event must be decided by majority vote
of the NZFSS Executive.
d)
Any trophies donated become the sole property of
the NZFSS.
